There’s definitely something magical about the millions of lights strung up for the Christmas holidays. From neatly pruned decorated trees to gorgeously colorful strings and other inventive gizmos put up for display, you’ll want to be a part of it all this year.

The 109th Newport Beach Christmas Boat Parade & Ring of Lights

 This famous and highly anticipated yearly event is over a 100 year old and is still going strong in Southern California. The Newport Beach Christmas Boat Parade has over a million spectators to its name and is the premier event that’s loved by both kids and adults alike. You can choose to view this amazing spectacle from shore or join the parade itself to be a part of it all.

Venue: Tip of Lido Isle, Newport Beach, CA 92663

Boat Parade Cruise: Starts at 6:30 p.m. (from 13 Dec 2017 to 17 Dec 2017)
Holiday Lights Cruise: Starts at 5:30 p.m. (from 1 Dec to 31 Dec 2017)

The 43rd Annual Dana Point Harbor Boat Parade of Lights

If you’re a fan of highly decorated boats or you’re looking to win some awards for your own decorated boat, you’ll want to be a part of the annual Dana Point Harbor Boat Parade of Lights. It’s a free-for-all event so you’re encouraged to invite as many people as possible. You can view the parade from the harbor itself or sit and relax in one of the restaurants to enjoy a great view.

Venue: Dana Point Harbor, 34555 Golden Lantern

Time & Date: Starts at 7:30 p.m. (8, 9, 15 & 16 Dec 2017)

Admission: Adult ($29), Children ($19)

 

Holly Jolly Lights Tour

Everyone is invited to enjoy some fun festivities with the Mission Viejo Activities Committee. There will be an outdoor party for all participants. You’ll also get to enjoy live entertainment, a special holiday cookie, hot chocolate (to warm your tummy) and a marshmallow for roasting over a warm fire.

Venue: Civic Center Plaza, 200 Civic Center Drive, Mission Viejo

Time & Date: Two Tours/Night – 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. (8 & 9 Dec 2017)

Admission: $10/person

 

The 55th Cruise of Lights

If you enjoy a narration and cruise for your Christmas lights viewing, you should go for Huntington Harbor’s Cruise of Lights. You’ll get to see lots of brightly lit homes along the waterway and it’s definitely a different feeling of driving down a road. You can park at the Huntington Harbor Mall at the corner of Algonquin and Saybrook and use the designated buses to get to the boat launch area just a short distance away.

Time & Date: Starts hourly from 5:30 p.m. (from 15 – 18 Dec 2017 and 21 – 23 Dec 2017)
