Fall Travel: 5 Considerations for Business Travelers

Posted on: October 4th, 2016

As temperatures drop, it’s time to say farewell to the warm days of summer. The lazy mood of the season is slowly replaced by routines. If you are traveling for work this fall, here are some things to consider:

  1. Benefit from the season’s perks

Why should a low budget be a worry? Fall can be a very good time to save your money on group travel, meetings or your own business trips. Airfares and many hotels during the fall months bring significant discounts (up to 30% lower than the summer rates) hence this time of year is the most tedious time for travel. Everywhere from The U.S. to Europe or Asia you can find savings of up to half off during fall months.

  1. Consider the weather

If you are traveling to a destination predisposed to hurricanes, you might take into consideration that the hurricane season is active until November 30th. You can check with your hotel or airline if they offer a hurricane insurance before booking your trip. Hurricane insurances may provide different solutions that vary from rebooking accommodations to refunding the cost of your disrupted travel. It is also a good idea to call your travel insurance provider to make sure you have a hurricane coverage. The US State Department often issues TV weather reports and travel alerts that are essential during your trip.

  1. Bring proper clothing

Autumn weather is somewhat uncertain in many locations around the world, so it is important to have appropriate clothing. Make sure to pack pieces that can easily be combined to create diverse and exciting looks and a jacket that suits most of your outfits.

Temperatures can vary a lot throughout an autumn day. Make sure you pack at least one pair of comfortable jeans and several long pants. Your best clothing option is using layers. Don’t forget you’ll need at least one warm sweater, a light cardigan or a coat and some short and long-sleeved shirts. Bring a pair of socks for every day, and for those rainy days, a travel umbrella. No more than two pairs of shoes are required (ladies included!). If you have a medical condition, it’s important to bring your medication in your carry-on in its original prescription container, especially if you are uncertain of where to find a drugstore.

  1. Have Fun

Fall can be a good time to visit any major landmark, museum, park or historical site. Take advantage of your free time during your next trip and check out the sights and explore the local culture without being crowded. If you prefer the beach, you can still find many destinations with blue skies and a sunny climate. Swimming is not recommended! If you are into road trips, you can ask your chauffeur to help you with your travel plan.

  1. Eat at the newest and the hottest restaurant

You deserve indulging yourself once in a while. Why not trying a fancy, new restaurant? It could be an unusual and delightful experience. You can gloat to all of your friends about this awesome new hot place. Try not to stress over eating alone as no one will notice or care. So treat yourself at least one per business travel with a fancy hot restaurant in town.
